Narnia lamppost illustration by Pauline Baynes
contributed by Peter Thorpe

Pauline illustrated The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis in 1950. The Guardian Saturday Review ran a feature on writers' favourite illustrators and illustrations in their December 8, 2012 edition. Phil Ardagh picked Pauline Baynes's drawing of the lamppost in the woods from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Paulinebaynes.com was able to help The Guardian contact the CS Lewis Company, Ltd for permission to use the illustration. Illustration copyright © 1950, 1998 by C.S. Lewis Pte. Ltd.
